50,000 electric charging stations in Europe now accept crypto payments

Swedish SaaS platform Vourity and HIPS Payment Group Ltd has announced a partnership that will allow users to pay via cryptocurrencies in 50,000 EV charging stations throughout Europe. Hips Merchant Protocol will be providing the platform to link crypto payments straight to the blockchain. According to the announcement, the crypto payment option will be enabled in November 2021.

Making EV charging more efficient

Chief Executive Officer of Hips John Cavebring commented about the partnership, saying it will make EV charging more convenient. He stated,

We are really pleased to announce this partnership as we believe it is forward-thinking on many fronts.

Cavebring also stated that the move will speed up the move for an all-electric vehicle future.

Presently, the Vourity platform enables EV drivers to use a routine open payment method when charging their vehicles. It uses methods such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, Bluecode, Swish, as well as charge cards (Mastercard and Visa).

The collaboration is intended to expand client payment processing options, which will promote the use of cryptocurrencies to make payments.

The most logical choice for the next-generation world

Chief Executive Officer of Vourity v stated that the company is always looking for innovative ways to provide =more efficient servicers for EV drivers. He said the goal is to make it easy for EV drivers to charge their cars using different alternatives. Nottehed reiterated that it chose to partner with HIPS because cryptocurrency payments are the “most logical choice for our next-generation world.

HIPS Payments Group also collaborated with The Payment House to allow payments using crypto assets in more than 10,000 taxis in the UK and over 20,000 taxis in Scandinavia.

The beta version of the payment system will be enabled later in November this year. According to the partnership deal, the HMP and its merchant gateway will be used over Ethereum.
