United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency is looking for a cryptocurrency investigator. The governmental organization posted a dedicated job offer on its official “Civil service jobs” portal.

The London-based resource will be in charge of relationships with key stakeholders and briefings for officers of different grades. In addition, the investigator will be responsible for seed and BIP phrases and will provide strategic advice regarding cryptocurrency and virtual assets. The inspector will eventually make part of the National Cyber Crime Unit Crypto Cell team, which specializes in crypto and virtual assets.

The UK government offers a salary of between £40,209 to £43,705 (approximately $48,461 to $52,674) to the successful candidate. Notably, it is much lower than salaries offered by web3 companies, where investigators earn an average of $125,000 per year, according to Crypto Jobs List.

Individuals, which are expected to be experienced in blockchain investigations, can apply through January 10, 11:55 PM GMT. The interviews will be conducted throughout February and March of this year.

As crypto frauds and hacks happen more often and become more sophisticated, the on-chain investigator position becomes crucial for different organizations. In 2022, the web3 industry saw several major exploits that led to significant losses. In the previous week, 3Commas customers faced a data leak, which resulted in thousands of API keys being published online.
