Tezos NFTs Head to Art Basel Miami Beach
Tezos NFT artworks will be in the spotlight at the Art Basel Miami Beach art fair, taking place from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, 2021.
Today, Art Basel announced it had partnered with Tezos to organize its first curated NFT art experience at its upcoming art fair. During the event, the Tezos NFT art community will have the opportunity to show what NFTs mean to the art world through interactive exhibits, inspiring speakers, and collaborative panel discussions.
Founded in 1970, Art Basel is one of the world’s most prestigious global platforms for modern and contemporary art. Its art fairs have become a driving force in supporting galleries and artists and garnered a large international audience of art spectators.
Tezos is a blockchain protocol that uses a Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm to verify transactions. It currently consumes about two million times less energy to process transactions than Ethereum and has significantly lower transaction costs. As a result, Tezos has recently gained popularity among environmentally conscious artists and NFT connoisseurs. Last month, Doja Cat and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda issued their first NFTs on Tezos, and the blockchain is currently home to three of the top 20 NFT marketplaces in the space.
NFTs, otherwise known as non-fungible tokens, are currently the fastest-growing area of the crypto economy. They had their first mainstream moment in 2020, finding use in digital art, music, gaming, and merchandise for the Metaverse. The social media giants TikTok and Twitter have also embraced the technology, alongside soft drink giant Coca-Cola, and world-renowned auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s.
